Mission

The REFORMA | Oregon Chapter promotes the advancement, growth, improvement, and implementation of library and information services to the Latino and Spanish-speaking communities in the state of Oregon.

Officers, 2024-2025

President: Kristen Curé | Springfield Public Library
Kristen Curé (she/her) is a librarian at the Springfield Public Library. There, she works with the Spanish-speaking community: she buys materials and books in Spanish and plans events and activities for adults, children and families. Community partnerships and collaborations are the foundation to her work at the public library.

Immediate Past-President: Brandace Rojo | Josephine Community Library District 
Brandace is the Communications & Partnership Manager for Josephine Community Library District in southern Oregon. Working with her communications team, she helps people fall in love with and sometimes re-discover the library through a comprehensive marketing platform. In addition to serving on the Reforma | Oregon Chapter board, she facilitates the Josephine County Latinx Interagency Network Committee and serves on the Grants Pass School District 7 Equity Advisory Committee to the Superintendent.

Description: To promote the Oregon Library Association Conference and facilitate awarding a scholarship to a member of the REFORMA | Oregon Chapter

Libros for Oregon

Description: To form an Oregon library book-buying cooperative to purchase materials for members at the International Book Fair (FIL), in Guadalajara, to help participating libraries to develop and implement outreach plans for connecting their enhanced collections with their Hispanic/Latino communities, and to create a “Best of FIL” booklist for all Oregon libraries to use in collection development.

History

The Reforma | Oregon Chapter held its first meeting in November of 2014 and became a division of the Oregon Library Association in 2023.
